Every business needs a name, and finding the right one is part of the entrepreneurial journey. Brooklyn and I started with a brainstorming session to generate ideas.
The Brainstorm
I encouraged Brooklyn to come up with multiple options rather than settling on the first idea. We explored different directions and combinations, talking through what makes a name memorable and meaningful.
Learning About Trademarks
We also researched trademark registration concepts. A trademark is a symbol, word, or words legally registered or established by use as representing a company or product. Understanding intellectual property early is an important lesson for any entrepreneur.
The Name
Brooklyn ultimately chose “Scrubba Bubba” for her homemade scrubs and lotions business. It was a name she created and felt proud of – and that ownership matters. When you create something yourself, you invest more in making it succeed.
Getting a Logo
We commissioned a logo through Fiverr for $5. The designer completed a proof and final design within days. This was a great lesson in outsourcing – you don’t have to do everything yourself, and you can find affordable help for specialized skills.
Finishing the Brand
Custom Avery labels were printed at home to complete the branding phase. Brooklyn now had a business name, a professional logo, and labeled products ready to sell.
The next step was sourcing ingredients and creating test product versions – turning the brand into a real product that customers would want to buy.
